New Year's Eve Midnight Fireworks return with a bang to NewcastleGateshead Quayside to welcome 2019

NewcastleGateshead Initiative in partnership with NE1 are delighted to announce the return of the New Year’s Eve midnight fireworks on the Quayside, Monday 31 December. 

Welcome in 2019 with a bang as the fireworks light up the Tyne, our iconic seven bridges and the Quayside's impressive architecture, which will all provide a dramatic backdrop for the spectacular display. 

Midnight Fireworks are FREE and UN-TICKETED so all you night owls are invited to head down to the Quayside at the stroke of midnight to herald in the New Year in spectacular style. 

Celebrate in style with festive drinks and a tasty array of food at the many bars and restaurants along the Quayside and then dance til dawn with New Year's events across the city.

The FREE display will be delivered by outdoor arts company, Walk the Plank, and is made possible thanks to the following businesses:

Viewing for the NewcastleGateshead New Year’s Eve Fireworks in Newcastle will be from Newcastle Quayside. With optimum viewing between Pitcher and Piano and Slug and Lettuce facing Gateshead.

Viewing for the NewcastleGateshead New Year’s Eve Midnight Fireworks in Gateshead will be from Baltic Square and Performance Square outside Sage Gateshead.

Road Closures for Midnight Fireworks

Road closure on Newcastle Quayside from approx. 23.30 on Monday 31 December 2018 – 00.30 Tuesday 1 January (or until crowds have dispersed and it is safe to reopen the road to traffic).

Newcastle Quayside will be closed to all vehicles for public safety from approximately 23.30-00.30 between Newcastle Swing Bridge and Milk Market. Viewing for the NewcastleGateshead New Year’s Eve Midnight Fireworks in Newcastle will be from Newcastle Quayside (optimum viewing on between the Milk Market and the Swing Bridge facing Gateshead).

Road closure on Gateshead Quays, South Shore Road from approximately 23.30 Monday 31 December – 00.30 Tuesday 1 January.

South Shore Road will be closed to vehicles and pedestrians for public safety from approx. 23.30-00.30. Viewing for the NewcastleGateshead New Year’s Eve Midnight Fireworks in Gateshead will be from Baltic Square and Performance Square outside Sage Gateshead.
