New Year's Eve Midnight Fireworks return with a bang to NewcastleGateshead Quayside to welcome 2018

NewcastleGateshead Initiative in partnership with NE1 are delighted to announce that the traditional NewcastleGateshead Quayside Fireworks are back by popular demand to herald the New Year with customary wow-factor. Night owls are invited to welcome in 2018 at the stroke of midnight in the city, as fireworks light up the Tyne against the iconic backdrop of the seven bridges. This FREE special display is made possible thanks to the support of local quayside businesses.

Practical Information

Viewing for the NewcastleGateshead New Year’s Eve Fireworks in Newcastle will be from Newcastle Quayside. With optimum viewing between Milk Market and the Swing Bridge facing Gateshead.

Viewing for the NewcastleGateshead New Year’s Eve Fireworks in Gateshead will be from Baltic Square and Performance Square outside Sage Gateshead.

The event will not be wrist-banded. The short high impact firework display will complement the activities and entertainment taking place in the Quayside bars, restaurants, hotels and venues.

Road Closure

For public safety and management of the event Newcastle Quayside will be closed to all vehicles from approximately 23.45 Sunday 31 December to 00.15 Monday 1 January (or until crowds disperse) between Newcastle Swing Bridge and Milk Market.
