"The Clock has stopped at a quarter to Spring, the world is frozen in Winter. Who could guess that the key to the New Year lies in a Nutshell".

This year for our annual Winter Festival we are collaborating with Gateshead International Festival of Theatre (GIFT) as they develop their 'Little GIFT' for young audiences. Their aim is to bring exceptional performers and new works to Gateshead. The show they have chosen is 'In a Nutshell', a beautifully crafted piece of theatre for children, from Creative Director Alison McGowan. This is a wonderful introduction to theatre, both intimate and imaginative. A warm and touching story of beginnings and endings, hellos and goodbyes, told through exquisite puppetry.

The annual Winter Festival at St Mary's is special, a unique family performance that everyone can enjoy. The Centre is transformed each year for the performances and complemented with our festive tree, twinkling lights and winter model village.
