Newcastle Mela is an incredible two day event that takes place every year during the August Bank Holiday weekend in Exhibition Park, Newcastle upon Tyne. It’s free, family friendly and everyone is welcome.

Experience the vibrant Newcastle Mela - a three-day celebration of Pakistani, Bengali, Indian, and South Asian cultures from August 26-28 at Exhibition Park & Newcastle upon Tyne City Centre.

The festival kicks off on August 26 with a vibrant Mela in the City, featuring all-day performances and activities around Grey's Monument, followed by the grand Bank Holiday event in Exhibition Park on August 27-28.

With an expected attendance of 40,000 visitors, this free and family-friendly event offers captivating music, dance, drumming, circus acts, and activities, providing you with the chance to experience the music, food, and entertainment associated with these cultures.

Enjoy performances by renowned singers and musicians, savor diverse hot and cold foods from numerous stalls, and explore unique clothes, gifts, and jewellery. Be dazzled by circus acts, dance artists, and local groups.

Newcastle Mela welcomes all, regardless of age or background. Enjoy fairground attractions, henna hand tattoos, and a wide range of food options, including vegetarian and meat curries, biryanis, samosas, grills, kulfi ice cream, and panipuri.

Organized by NAAM (Newcastle Asian Arts and Music), Mela has been an annual North East highlight for 25+ years.
