Heritage Open Days 2018

About

Welcome to England's favourite heritage festival! Every September some 40,000 volunteers across England organise 5,000 events to celebrate our fantastic history and culture. It's your chance to see hidden places and try out new experiences – all of which are FREE to explore. There are countless amazing venues and attractions across Tyne and Wear who will open their doors, some for the first time, to allow visitors a fascinating peek into the history and heritage of our region.

Free of charge and right on your doorstep, Heritage Open Days is an event for everyone! From castles to city halls, tunnels to tower tops, police cells to private homes, workshops to woodland walks, the variety of places and ways to discover them are endless.

This is the 16th year of the annual Heritage Open Days weekend of architecture, history and culture in Tyne and Wear. There are a multitude of buildings and activities for you to choose from throughout Gateshead, Newcastle, North Tyneside, South Tyneside and Sunderland.

Full the full line up of events, visit the Heritage Open Days website.
