Foods and Feuds at Dobson and Parnell

About

Mrs Hannah Glasse and guests invite you to join them for a unique evening of culinary and theatrical experiment.

The award-winning November Club and Dobson & Parnell bring you Foods and Feuds: Two Cooks of Hexham – an imaginary time-travelling story inspired by the life of 18th-century writer Hannah Glasse, the long-forgotten author of the most successful cookbook of all time ‘The Art of Cookery made Plain and Easy’.  The story of the lives of three cooks unfold through food, with the historical challenges in the lives of women questioned with poignant effect.

To accompany this performance, you will be served a 5-course meal inspired by Hannah Glasse’s recipes.  Performance and dining will be interspersed throughout the night as Hannah and her contemporary, Ann Cook, reveal their feud ably umpired by Isabella Beeton. While perhaps lacking the technical expertise of our professional chefs, Hannah Glasse might nevertheless have felt at home in their kitchen.
