Art School: February half term at Laing Art Gallery

Our three-day art school will keep teens and pre-teens busy at half term with the chance to explore abstract art.

Participants will work with a professional arts educator to experiment with a variety of artist materials, skills and techniques. They will create work inspired by the Sean Scully and Bomberg exhibitions, as well as a range of historical and contemporary artists’ work. This is the perfect opportunity for portfolio development if you are studying Art, or thinking about it, or if you are simply looking to extend your artistic skills and experiences.

Please bring a packed lunch each day (snacks and juice provided) and wear clothes you don't mind getting messy.

This course aims to be fully inclusive and children with additional needs are welcome. If you'd like to have an informal conversation with a tutor before booking please email

There is also the opportunity for participants to achieve the nationally accredited Explore Level Arts Award, at an additional cost. More information about the Arts Award.

Suitable for ages 11-16 years
