Award: Large Hotel of the Year

Winner: Maften Hall Hotel

Are you looking for a quiet weekend away with your other half or family? Maften Hall Hotel & Spa could be the place for you.

This award winning hotel is located just 15 miles west of Newcastle, in the charming village of Matfen. It is also the ancestral home of its owners Sir Hugh and Lady Blackett.

From 1997-1999 Sir Hugh and Lady Blackett lovingly restored and transformed Matfen Hall into luxury hotel with 53 bedrooms, individually decorated in traditional and contemporary styles.

Since then they have worked with the great vision of transforming the Matfen Hall into the leading independently owned hotel in Northumberland. Today, it prides itself with an amazing spa, three restaurant facilities on site, and a Golf centre with 27 holes, a training academy and driving range.
