The Branch

The Branch is home to a selection of creative businesses offering handmade arts, crafts and food products. Studios are based in Gibside’s historic stables and surrounding woodland while the onsite Bakery and Butchery are based in Market Place, near the café, shop and toilets

From soap-making and photography, to costume design and freshly baked products, there’s something for every taste, all inspired by Gibside’s natural environment and stories. Meet the artists or see them at work in their Studios or Cabins. Purchase inspirational hand-crafted products to take home, or commission something special.

Come and visit

Core opening times are 11am to 3pm, each day with different businesses being open on different days. If you're planning to visit a particular business, contact them in advance to check availability. Parking is available in Gibside’s visitor car parks. It is only a few minutes to reach the Cabins in Market Place or a lovely 15 minute walk to the Creative Studios at the Stables. A shuttle service runs from Gibside’s Visitor Reception to Market Place and to the Stables for those needing help with access. Several Studios at the Stables are upstairs – for disabled access please call us before you visit.

This exciting partnership between the National Trust, Rural Growth Network and Gateshead Council which aims to develop the creative sector in rural areas by attracting and retaining talent and skills.
