Sunderland Empire

About

Opened in 1907, Sunderland Empire is the North East's flagship theatre. It's one of the region's largest venues with capacity to accommodate up to 2,200 people.

It has undergone a wealth of refurbishment since its opening, notably a £4.5m redevelopment project in 2004, which enabled the theatre to host West End shows.

This has put Sunderland Empire at the forefront of North East theatre, attracting season after season of record-breaking, smash-hit West End musicals, ballet and cutting-edge comedy.

The venue has hosted shows like Starlight Express, Miss Saignon, Wicked and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and the calendar of events continues to grow every year, with some amazing shows lined up over the next 18 months.

For more information about the theatre, calendar of events, Live Card Membership or show information visit www.atgtickets.com/sunderland.
