The independent theatre is famed for its imaginative and immerse children’s theatre productions especially its original Christmas performances.

Enjoy a broad range of theatre shows and concerts including brilliant tribute acts, at Tyne Theatre and Opera House in Newcastle, the world’s oldest working Victorian theatre which is also fast becoming Newcastle’s go-to venue for stand-up comedy. Visitors looking for parking near Theatre Royal Newcastle can benefit from the city’s Alive After Five scheme which means parking is free in certain Newcastle car parks, including Dean Street Car Park, after 5pm every day. Monument Metro is less than 5-minute walk from Theatre Royal making an excellent alternative to arriving by car.

Regarded by many as the UK’s finest theatre building, the Grade I listed Theatre Royal on Newcastle’s Grey Street regularly hosts world-class productions from West End musicals to thought-provoking drama as well as its famous pantomime each Christmas.

Theatre lovers visiting Newcastle should take a trip to Alphabetti Theatre which is a small but perfectly formed independent theatre which creates, produces and programmes a truly diverse range of new and original work from emerging artists.
