Derwentcote Steel Furnace

About

Built in the 1720s, Derwentcote is the earliest and most complete steel-making furnace in Britain; it produced high-grade steel for springs and cutting tools.

There is no access to the interior. 

Access: The grounds are very uneven, and not suitable for wheelchair and pushchair users.

Opening Times

* Any reasonable time during daylight hours (Grounds only - no access to Furnace). Closed 24-26 December and 1 January.
