The Great North 10K taking place in Gateshead asserts itself as the biggest 10K running event in the entire North East and one of most iconic and celebrated sporting events in the country.

The event is set to take place on Sunday 7th July 2019 and is hailed as the perfect training event ahead of the Great North Run in September. Although many treat the event as a formal test of training in preparation of the upcoming half marathon, participants are not required to be running The Great North Run in to take part. This event is open to all who wish to run.

The scenic route takes runners along the iconic Newcastle and Gateshead quayside, on the Gateshead side of course, taking them past some of the town’s most popular attractions, including The Sage, BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art and also the Gateshead Millennium Bridge.

Although the breath-taking experience of crossing over the Tyne Bridge is reserved for participants of The Great North Run, runners taking part in the Great North 10k will have the opportunity to gaze across it as they pass by as part of their route.
