The Red Kite

About

Perfectly located for walkers and cyclists enjoying the nearby Derwent Walk Country Park, the Red Kite at Winlaton Mill serves meals using fresh and locally sourced ingredients. The pub has recently been refurbished including an expansive outside seating area. Dogs are more than welcome both inside the pub and outside. The restaurant area at the rear has views of the Derwent Valley, home to the Red Kite which gives the pub its name. These graceful birds of prey with a wing span approaching 6 feet were re-introduced to the valley a decade ago and are often seen soaring overhead.

Old Hollinside Manor, Crowley’s Dam and Thornley Woodlands Centre are all within a 20 minute walk from the Red Kite which is located just off the A694 on the outskirts of Winlaton Mill.  It is well served by local buses and being on the national C2C cycle route it is accessible from far and wide.

The Red Kite is open daily from 10am for breakfast and sandwiches with the main menu available from 12pm through to 9pm (9.30pm Friday and Saturday).
