Chinese Restaurants in Newcastle and Gateshead

Chinese restaurants in Newcastle are something of a speciality, as the city boasts its very own Chinatown, right in the heart of the historic Grainger Town area. Enter through the magnificent Chinese Arch and you'll find yourself on Stowell Street, which is lined with Chinese restaurants - talk about spoiled for choice!

For budget-conscious diners Newcastle Chinatown has plenty of affordable Chinese buffets and cafes, including the ever-popular Lau's Buffet King and Chinatown Express. There are also many excellent a la carte-style Chinese restaurants such as the award-winning King Neptune, and the Royal Emperor where vegetarians are especially well catered for.

Newcastle has plenty more great Chinese restaurants outside of Chinatown too. The Fat Buddha Asian Bar and Kitchen is elegant and perfect for a special occasion, and the contemporary HeiHei, Nudo Noodle House, and Orchid on the Quayside are all firm local favourites for satisfying those Chinese cravings.

Across the Tyne you'll find plenty of Chinese restaurants in Gateshead too, including the stylish Imperial Restaurant in Low Fell and Miji in Blaydon, which is located within an old pub. At the Metrocentre, re-fuel during a busy day of shopping at the all-you-can-eat Buffet King.
