Things to do in Ouseburn

With Ouseburn becoming increasingly well-known for its vibrant creative atmosphere, there's plenty to do in the area, whatever your age or interests.

Families looking for a fun and educational day out should check out Seven Stories, The National Centre for Children's Books. With seven floors of exhibitions, activities and events, its the perfect place to immerse yourself in the world of books and storytelling.

Animal-lovers will find plenty to do at Ouseburn Farm, home to a variety of farmyard animals. Depending on the time of year, you might even get to see some adorable baby animals, from chicks and lambs to piglets and calves, plus many more! This community-run urban farm also runs a number of educational events throughout the year, while just across the road are Stepney Bank Stables, offering horse riding lessons for all ages and levels, as well as regular educational activities.

Culture buff? There's no shortage of art, music and events happening in Ouseburn. Visit The Biscuit Factory, the UK's largest independent contemporary art, craft and design gallery. Based in a magnificently converted Victorian warehouse, the Biscuit Factory houses cutting-edge art exhibitions, a craft and jewellery shop, the Factory Kitchen cafe and even an award-winning fine dining restaurant, Artisan.

Budding interior designers can browse reclaimed and antique furniture in one of the warehouses nestled under the arches of Byker Bridge, where you can discover your next treasure or up-cycling project.

Continue your cultural journey through the Ouseburn Valley with a visit to Hoult's Yard. This former pottery works has been transformed into a creative hub, with studios and offices filled with artists and creative businesses. With gigs, live theatre and art exhibitions a regular occurrence, there's something for everyone at this cultural hotspot.

Finish off your night with a drink at The Cluny, a bar, art gallery and music venue that is nationally renowned as one of the best gig venues in the region or walk along the Quayside to find many more fantastic bars and restaurants that NewcastleGateshead has to offer.
