The Biscuit Factory Newcastle Ouseburn

The building was in fact a biscuit manufacturing warehouse in the Victorian era, known as The Tyne Biscuit Factory in 1870. It was sympathetically restored in the early 2000s and still retains many of its original features – including exposed brickwork and high vaulted wooden ceiling beams.

The building, now home to The Biscuit Factory, has had numerous guises over the years and was also used as a billet for men attached temporarily to First Northern General Hospital, Newcastle during WWI.

The art gallery is located in the Ouseburn, dubbed Newcastle’s cool, cultural quarter and even touted by The Guardian as Newcastle's very own Shoreditch. Situated a short 10-minute walk from Newcastle city centre and with Manors Metro close by, this area is steeped in local history and home to hundreds of artists, musicians and creatives. Ouseburn has everything from galleries, a bike yard and a farm, to independent eateries and craft pubs.
