Conversion Festival

Conversion Festival features live music, performance, arts, street food stalls and a very special evening spectacular to entertain the tens of thousands of fans and spectators celebrating Rugby World Cup 2015 in Host City, Newcastle upon Tyne.

On match days in Newcastle (3rd, 9th and 10th October), you will be able to enjoy live music and street entertainment that reflects the nations of New Zealand, South Africa, Tonga, Samoa and Scotland. Musicians and performers will be dotted around the city centre and St James’ Park before, during and after games. 

The festivities start with a special welcome events in and around Newcastle city centre, as well as the opening of the EAT! North East Food Heroes Market; 40 local street food traders offering some of the best local produce the North East has to offer. The street food market will be in Newcastle city centre until Sunday 11 October.

A conversion is the rugby term given to a successful kick at goal after a try. Through the wealth of events and activity occurring in the city, sporting fans will surely be converted into cultural attendees.

Conversion Festival is funded by Arts Council England, produced by NewcastleGateshead Initiative and developed and delivered in partnership with Newcastle City Council.
