Bibby Offshore North East Launch

Pre-event planning:  Bibby Offshore extended its operation by expanding into Newcastle in November 2013 with the aim of attracting talent from the North East, which has a strong engineering tradition. As a company Bibby has seen unprecedented growth in its first decade of business and needed a unique venue that would showcase NewcastleGateshead to company directors, many of whom had not visited Newcastle before, and similarly help to showcase and celebrate the company’s success in expanding.

Challenges: Bibby needed a venue that reflected the creativity and vibrancy of NewcastleGateshead whilst providing a high quality corporate event for director level contacts. In order for Bibby to adequately showcase their new office space, the venue also needed to be close by to the company’s new premises and provide both indoor and outdoor space.

Solution: To help ensure the event requirements were met, Bibby Offshore turned to the local experts, NewcastleGateshead Convention Bureau, who guided the company in selecting BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art. Situated on the iconic Quayside, the venue is situated just minutes from Bibby Offshore’s Newcastle office on Gateshead Quays and was the perfect solution, providing internal space and an exterior terrace overlooking the Gateshead Millennium Bridge, which was specially lit in corporate colours for the evening.

Client verdict: "The launch event was a huge success,” says Julie Grenfell-Yuille, Senior Projects & Office Co-ordinator at Bibby Offshore. “It worked perfectly to showcase our presence in Newcastle and reflected the vibrancy and quality of the region. We invited local businesses, friends and colleagues and introduced not just our Directors to the North East, but Bibby Offshore to our new colleagues, locally.”
