The North East’s newest luxury hotel, Crowne Plaza Newcastle – Stephenson Quarter is open for business, bringing a fantastic conference, banqueting and corporate meetings facility to the heart of the bustling Newcastle city centre.

The impressive seven-storey, 251-bed hotel on Hawthorn Square, Forth Street is a stone’s throw from Newcastle’s Central Station and boasts excellent connectivity across the UK and beyond.

High-spec meeting rooms are aptly named in recognition of the rich engineering history that the hotel’s location is renowned for – it’s a short walk from the historic Stephenson Works that was home to the Robert Stephenson and Co. Locomotive Works, the crucible of the railway industry, where the revolutionary Rocket was built in 1829.

The 12-sided, uniquely-shaped Stephenson Suite seats and caters for 360 people, is free of pillars and has acoustic sound panels taken from the design of the Royal Albert Hall. The room also has an exclusive private bar and reception area.

A further eight adaptable meeting rooms come with inbuilt 75 inch plasma screens with wireless connectivity to project directly from laptops, tablets or phones; air conditioning and natural daylight, as well as individual Wi-Fi hubs so each room has complimentary Wi-Fi for all delegates.

Andrew Fox, general manager, said: “Our state-of-the-art conference, banqueting and meeting facilities are among the best available in Newcastle. We have unique event spaces set in a luxury hotel combined with an exceptional service and a fantastic dining, drinking and leisure offer.

“Hawthorns restaurant is a chic brasserie which serves Northern British cuisine in informal and relaxed surroundings while The GIN Bar offers something unique to meetings and event organisers – the opportunity to ‘engineer’ your own Martini where customers can choose the liquor, the garnish, the vermouth and the way it is mixed and served…there’s more than 20,000 options.

“Demand for facilities has secured nearly £650,000 of conference business to date and we’re looking forward to welcoming delegates from events such as the SIOPEN Annual General Meeting and 4th Neuroblastoma Research Symposium as well as working with companies such as Northumbrian Water, Deloitte, Ernst & Young, Ward Hadaway and Intu on their corporate events.”

Paul Szomoru, head of business tourism at NewcastleGateshead Convention Bureau, said “Crowne Plaza makes a fantastic addition to the events and conferencing offering of NewcastleGateshead. It’s the biggest single investment in our conferencing facilities and accommodation offer in over 10 years. Our team here at NewcastleGateshead Convention Bureau are excited to work alongside the hotel to showcase their stunning events spaces as well as provide organisers with a seamless and professional experience, helping them to deliver exceptional event programmes.

“We provide free, impartial advice and unrivalled local knowledge to organisers from across the UK and beyond. We are always excited to have high quality venues open within the city widening the portfolio of venue and accommodation options available to organisers.”

Day delegate rates start from £40 and residential delegate rates from £155.
