Saturday 20 October - Sunday 4 November 2018

You're in for a two-week treat at Life Science Centre this October Half Term. Get ready to learn everything a young wizard needs to know about concocting potions in their daily workshops. Discover the mystery of outer space in their new planetarium show, Alien Worlds. There is also still time to explore their blockbuster exhibition, Robots - Then and Now. That's not all - you get one free child admission to Life Science Centre with each full paying adult, from Saturday 20 October – Sunday 4 November 2018.

Piglet Petting and other activities at Ouseburn Farm

Monday 22 October - Sunday 4 November

Piglet Petting, Reptile Pampering and Bread & Butter Making are all on offer at Ouseburn Farm during October Half Term (you will have act fast if you want to pet the piglets - sessions are booking up fast with these farmyard celebs). There are also activities for those obsessed with Slime and get ready to spookify your pumpkins with classic pumpkin carving. A History of Health  and Halloween Evenings at Beamish Museum

Saturday 20 - Sunday 28 October (October Half Term activities)

Beamish will take you on an historical journey of health and healthcare this October Half Term. From 1950s NHS clinics and Georgian medicines to the dangers of being poorly through the ages. That's not all, be quick if you want to experience Beamish's popular Halloween Evenings this year. Tickets are already booking up (dates left are Mon 22 and Tue 23 October).

Potions, Explosions and Gothic Birds of Prey at Alnwick Castle

Saturday 20 - Sunday 28 October

Open from 10am to 5.30pm daily, Alnwick Castle is one to add to your October Half Term list of places to visit. Sign up to Knight School (20-21 October), head out on a Spooky Trail (20-28 October) or discover the mystery of Medieval Alchemy (22-28 October). With activities for all ages, everyone can get involved, there will never be a dull moment at Alnwick Castle. 

Face Your Fears at Seven Stories, The National Centre for Children's Books

Saturday 20 October - Sunday 4 November 2018

Seven Stories are here to help this October Half Term. Join them for creative workshops, author visits and performance adventure as you Face Your Fears. Take part in their Walk on the Dark Side after-hours tour of the building or dance away the dark in a special I'm Not Scared dance party. How intriguing does their Fluorescent Painting workshops sound too!?

BALTIC Family Day

Wednesday 24 October, Drop in between 10am-5pm

This is your chance to get creative with a day at BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art. Join artist Katie Schwab for Knot and get hands on with rope, light, fabric and paper to creatively explore ways to unravel, loop, twist and twine. Create your own threads as you journey through the building, immersing yourself in sound, colour, pattern and animation. The day of fun is also completely FREE!

Big Family Sing and Snuggle at Sage Gateshead

Friday 26 October, 1pm & 2.30pm

Is there a better way to spend your October Half Term than having a good old sing along with Sage Gateshead? Round up the family and head along to join their band of friendly musicians to help make some music that will warm you all up! Book tickets early to avoid disappointment.

Wizarding Family Fun Weekend at intu Metrocentre

Wizarding magic winds its way through the floors and stores at intu Metrocentre this October Half Term. Get stuck into potion concocting, broomstick training and wand making with a special appearance from some rather magical lookalikes. Spooktacular events and activities will be taking place throughout half term so pop along for a spot of shopping, grab a bite to eat and enjoy the Halloween fun!

It's a weekend of Tricks AND Treats at intu Eldon Square

Saturday 27 & Sunday 28 October 2018

intu Eldon Square are hosting a series of bespoke witching hours on Saturday 27 and Sunday 28 October where shoppers and their little monsters can take part in Halloween themed, free activities and go trick or treating with the promise of Double Trouble Hour between 11am-12noon. An autism-friendly hour will be hosted on Saturday 27 October between 9am-10am, giving shoppers the opportunity to experience the centre at a more relaxed.

Nature Fright Nights at WWT Washington Wetland Centre

Monday 29 - Wednesday 31 October 2018, 5pm-7pm

Wrap up warm and head out to WWT Washington Wetland Centre to take part in their Nature Fright Nights. Start your evening by making a spooky lantern to take on your adventure. You'll then head outdoors for a night-time stroll, stopping to enjoy bat detecting in Hollowood before venturing to Hunters Shriek cabin for potion making and outdoor stories. Finish off your night time of exploring with a tasty Halloween treat.

The Biscuit Factory Host FREE Half Term Events for All the Family

Tuesday 30 October & Friday 2 November

If you've never thought to pop along with the kids to The Biscuit Factory, then this October Half Term is your chance. Drop in for free and take part in some brilliant events packed with creative storytelling; join illustrators offering hands on drawing activities and contribute to their HUGE doodle inspired by the creatures and critters in their headline exhibition by children's author and illustrator Catherine Raynor.
