Ice Skating at Life Science Centre

Blow off the Christmas cobwebs and take to the ice at Life’s outdoor ice rink. Last entry to the rink is at 5pm on New Year's Eve so get your skates on and don't dawdle your way down there. Drop into Life Science Centre and explore their impressive Animals Inside Out exhibition before it closes on 8 January 2017.  The centre also has a 4D Motion Ride and one of the UK's biggest and best planetariums. Hadrian's Tipi

New to NewcastleGateshead this winter, Hadrian’s Tipi is a stunning festive pop-up next to Central Station. Gather round the roaring fire at the heart of the tipi with a steaming glass of glühwein, hot cider or perhaps a celebratory glass of fizz. Grab a bite to eat from the street food kiosk outside and settle down to enjoy a relaxed couple of hours. Surrounded by faux animal fur, rustic benches and the cosy scent of wood smoke, a trip to Hadrian’s Tipi is well worth adding to your to do list.

NewcastleGateshead Winter Carnival Parade

The annual Winter Carnival Parade is a family-friendly, early-evening celebration with music and performance. Watch as the streets come alive with otherworldly creatures, puppets and street bands, all illuminated with fire and light. A mysterious, majestic leader will guide the procession of fiery torchbearers, artists, bands and community groups as they make their way to Newcastle Civic Centre to ring in the New Year in style.  This dramatic parade will culminate in spectacular fireworks to launch your New Year’s Eve celebrations.
