rachel and leon dine by the tyne

Hello and welcome to my monthly round up for the month of May! It's been an action packed few weeks during which I have enjoyed lunch 100 feet in the air, made friends with sea lions, ran around the Lady of the North and filled my diary with a plethora of North East festivals!

My Dine by the Tyne experience was one I'll never forget, I was given a completely unique opportunity to enjoy lunch at a dining table suspended by a huge crane high in the sky overlooking the Sage Gateshead and the River Tyne. It certainly wasn't for the faint hearted but the food was absolutely delicious! Sadly you've now missed your chance to book lunch with Events in the Sky but you can still enjoy the gourmet delights I sampled by heading to River Beat where head chef Andrew Drape is much more at home with his feet on the ground.

As well as blogging about adventures in the sky during May, I also wrote about an underwater exploration at Blue Reef Aquarium in Tynemouth. I took my little niece and nephew there for a day out and they loved it! Meeting the seals and sea lions was definitely the highlight of our visit, even though we did get sprayed with water by the cheeky animals!

I could have done with that refreshing cool down when I took part in the Race for Life at Northumberlandia, aka The Lady of the North. This country park and landscape sculpture just a few miles North of Newcastle was the perfect location for a 5k run and I felt rather chuffed with myself when I crossed the finish line as it was the first time I had ever ran that far without stopping. I didn't blog about the event but there are loads of photos on the Northumberland Sport Facebook Page.

I think I'll be spending a lot more time outside over the next few months after putting together my epic guide to North East festivals and outdoor music gigs, there are so many cool events to look forward to in fab locations and I really want to go to them all! You can check out the list here.

May also saw the launch of lots of new places to eat and drink in NewcastleGateshead including Wylam Brewery, Yo Sushi, Cal's Own in Jesmond and there's also now a Riley's Fish Shack beside the Quayside Seaside which has returned for the summer, I can't wait to check them all out!

Well I think that's it for now but make sure you follow my social media accounts for regular updates!
