It's the second bank holiday of the month and once again the region is boasting a huge amount of amazing events to make sure you enjoy every second of that extra day off. We've rounded up some of our favourites from across the three days.

Game On 2.0, All weekend, Life Science Centre

From Sonic to Samus, Mario to Minecraft, Game On 2.0 is the world’s biggest collection of playable computer games from the past 60 years. This major international exhibition will appeal to families, school groups and people of all ages.

Proper Food and Drink Festival, All weekend, South Shields

Head to South Shields where there will be 60 of the region's finest artisan food producers selling the best locally-made food the country has to offer, as well as a licensed bar selling real ales and ciders from Wylam Brewery.

Evolution Emerging, Sat 23 May, Ouseburn Valley

On Saturday 23 May, 40 of the best emerging artists will take over nine venues in the Ouseburn Valley, with very special guest headliners Lisbon, Hyde & Beast and Shields.

This weekend, 2.8 Hours Later, the original, biggest and most sensational urban zombie chase game is coming to Gateshead with an incredible new story.
