I recently overheard a colleague refer to October as a 'nothing month that's just there to separate summer and winter', but I have to say, I don't think they could be more wrong! OK, so the deck chairs on the Quayside Seaside might have been packed away for another year and the Fenwick Christmas window had yet to be unveiled but there was still plenty going on Geordieland!

I made the most of the unusually warm weather by spending as much time as possible in the great outdoors and had loads of fun exploring our English heritage at local attractions including Prudhoe Castle and Warkworth Castle, both in nearby Northumberland, if you're looking for a great day out this Autumn then other historical sites in the care of English Heritage such Tynemouth Priory and Housesteads are also well worth a look!

I've also had some cracking nights out in the Toon recently, one particular highlight was a visit to The Herb Garden where I had the most amazing (and rather humongous) meal and a good old chinwag with the owners. Find out what they had to say and why their restaurant is so special by checking out the blog… which, by the way, is now an award winning blog!!

Oh yes, I only went and won an award at the inaugral North East Blogger Awards. The event was held at one of my favourite city centre venues, Lane 7 and was a glorious night filled with bowling, burgers and brilliant bloggers. I was shocked and delighted to walk away with a trophy for Best Travel Blog.

November looks set to be just as busy so make sure you follow my adventures in Geordieland over on twitter too!
