The Stadium of Light is set to rock to the sounds of one of the world’s most successful rock bands as the home of Sunderland Football Club gets set to welcome Red Hot Chili Peppers next summer.
The US band will play two massive shows in the UK next year – Sunderland’s Stadium of Light and Knebworth, which will be their only UK dates in 2012.
The Stadium of Light gig will also be the bands first-ever major show in the North East of England, with their only previous appearance being at the 400 capacity Newcastle Riverside in 1990.
One of the most successful acts in rock history, Red Hot Chili Peppers have sold more than 60 million albums, including 5 multi-platinum LP’s and won six Grammy Awards.
The show will take place at Sunderland’s Stadium of Light on Sunday 24 June 2012 and tickets go on sale from 9am, Friday 4 November, 2011.
Special guests joining Red Hot Chili Peppers will be announced in due course.
