2025 is going to be a massive year for events, openings and fun in NewcastleGateshead! Take a look at some of the highlights...

Starting off 2025, the ever popular NE1 Restaurant Week took place from the 13th until the 19th of January. A range of eateries within Newcastle city centre offered delicious discounted dishes.

Celebrations welcoming the Year of the Snake will get February off to an exciting start, with Lunar New Year bringing colourful parades, dancing and delicious food to the city centre Sunday 2nd February. The second ever National Stottie Cake Week took place from the 24th February to 1st March 2025. The festival of bread is a week of celebrating the iconic North East Stottie Cake and has quickly become a staple in the Geordie event calendar!

The iconic MOBO Awards were held at the Utilita Arena in Newcastle for the very first time 18th February. The annual music awards celebrate music of black origin, including hip hop, grime and UK Drill, and were celebrated at an all glitz and glamour ceremony with special guest appearances and electrifying live performances. The party didn't stop there as the MOBO Fringe Festival accompanied the infamous awards ceremony, with events, pop-up parties and performances taking venues across NewcastleGateshead.

The popular late night culture crawl The Late Shows put the spotlight on the much loved cultural hubs of Newcastle and Gateshead in May 2025, with a full line up of events across more than 60 venues!

2025 in NewcastleGateshead will be a big one for runners with the Newcastle-Gateshead Marathon, half marathon and 10K taking place Sunday 4th May. The route will take runners past famous landmarks of Gateshead including Gateshead Millennium Bridge, The Glasshouse, BALTIC, Tyne Bridge, Swing Bridge and finishes in the iconic Gateshead International Stadium. Later on in the year, the Great North Run will be taking place once more in September. The world's largest half marathon will welcome over 60,000 runners to take part in the city to sea race.

Come Together Festival is billed to be the North East's biggest ever music festival, happening right in the city centre for the first time ever, 20th to 22nd August. Taking place on Newcastle's Town Moor, the festival will welcome big names such as Robbie Williams, Kaiser Chiefs, Perrie and local talent Andrew Cushin.

July and August will be bursting with Pride in NewcastleGateshead! Pride in the City Festival will see events takeover Newcastle in July, including the Northern Pride arena at Times Square, bringing top class entertainment from top names.

Pride in Gateshead brings a month-long programme of entertainment for the duration of August, from family picnics and crafty workshops, to film festivals and sporting events.

August 2025 will also bring us the delicious delight of the second NE1 Restaurant Week of the year, the event will be run from 4th-10th serving up discounted delicacies at 120 restaurants across Newcastle.

The festive season in NewcastleGateshead will be jam packed with Christmas markets, events and celebrations old and new. Be dazzled by the annual decoration of the city and fill up your stockings with festive shopping at Eldon Square and the Metrocentre. The eagerly anticipated annual Fenwick Christmas window reveal is a huge part of the Geordie calendar and will be unveiled in the build up to the Christmas holidays. But what will the Christmas window theme be for 2025?
