Battleship Potemkin FAQs
We've compiled a list of the most common queries and hope these will answer any questions you may have.

1. What is the date of the event?
Monday 1st May 2006 (May Bank Holiday)

2. What is the Location?
Swan Hunter Shipyards, Wallsend, Tyne and Wear

3. What time does the event start & finish?
Gates open at 6pm
Pre-show entertainment from 8.30pm
Pet Shop Boys and Battleship Potemkin begins at 9pm
The event will finish at 11pm

We recommend you get to the yard by 8.00pm at the latest  
 
4. When will I know if I have been successful in my request for tickets?
You will be informed by 10th April.  Your tickets will then be sent out from 21 April 2006.

5. Is there catering at the event?
Yes – there will be catering vans on the premises as well as the sale of alcohol.  You will not be allowed to bring your own alcohol into the event with you

6. Can I bring my children?
Children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult.

7. Is it a seated event?
No – standing only. Please do not bring any kind of portable seating with you.

8. Is smoking permitted?
No – this is a non-smoking event

9. Can I park my car at the event?
We strongly recommend that you use public transport to get to the event. Metro will extend the number of services to Wallsend to accommodate this event.  However, you also have the option of parking in the centre of Newcastle and using the Metro to travel to Wallsend.  We recommend that you purchase a return ticket to avoid queuing at Metro ticket machines on your return. There are also bus services to Wallsend from throughout the region.  Call Traveline on 0870 608 2 608 for further details.

There will be disabled parking available at the venue - you must contact us at ngi@ngi.org.uk to make arrangements.

10. Are any Park and Ride Services available?
Park and Ride services are available from AMEC Howden Pans site (off Tyne View Terrace). A charge of £4 per car will apply but this includes transport to and from the screening. Click here for Map.

11. How do I get to Swan Hunter?
The easiest way from the centre of Newcastle is by Metro.  The Wallsend Metro station is only a 2 minute walk from Swan Hunter.

12. Will weather conditions affect the event?
No – the event will go ahead rain or shine, so please dress appropriately in case of bad weather.  

13. What should I wear?
Bearing in mind that this is an outdoor event and taking place in an industrial area, we recommend that you wear warm outdoor clothing and good outdoor footwear  

14. Are there toilet facilities available at the venue?
Yes.

15. I am travelling from outside the area.  Where can I find information on local hotels/accommodation?

If you are travelling to this event and looking to book accommodation, we have arrangements with a number of hotels where you can book your accommodation securely via credit/debit card straight away. Hotels in NewcastleGateshead do get extremely busy, so it is advisable to book as soon as possible.
