Nightlife
Our brilliant nightlife is a point we needn’t labour. We’ve a wealth of bars, pubs, clubs, theatres and music venues within easy reach of one another across NewcastleGateshead – the reason we famously never take our coats – plus plenty of more unusual venues up our sleeve which make it obvious why we were named third best party city in Europe in TripAdvisor’s 2010 poll.
Newcastle's superclub Digital attracts top DJs from around the world hosting nights like Turbulence which has established itself as the best drum and bass night in the North East.
You’re spoilt for choice at The Gate entertainment complex which, located in the heart of NewcastleGateshead, offers a wide selection of bars and restaurants, whilst The Sage Gateshead provides top-class entertainment day and night with everything from intimate folk performances to large-scale symphonic extravaganzas.
The Hyena Comedy Club and Jongleurs are a little different from the norm featuring top line-ups of stand-up comics to be enjoyed with a drink or alongside a meal or snack. If you're up for a laugh we highly recommend these great venues!
For hand-pulled pints, real ale and a traditional atmosphere Newcastle Quayside’s Crown Posada, one of the oldest pubs in town, should be top of your list, or visit the Ouseburn Valley where you'll find quirky pubs like The Cluny and The Cumberland Arms boasting more alternative atmospheres.
Finally, NewcastleGateshead’s thriving gay scene increasingly makes it a top choice for members of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community and their friends and family. The Gay Village (or Pink Triangle) just along the road from Newcastle Central Station is a great night out whatever you’re into!
