Any visitor to NewcastleGateshead who surveys the city skyline, can be left in little doubt as to one of the overriding passions of the region. St James' Park is home to Newcastle United and the ground towers over the city.

Most big clubs have their grounds situated on the outskirts of town but United's can be found where most other cities have their cathedrals, in the centre, which perhaps says something about the place the club has in the hearts of their passionate and loyal following - the 'Toon Army'.

The fans flock to the ground whenever the team play at home and are recognised to be some of the most knowledgeable and vociferous supporters in the country. Consequently they create an atmosphere that is second to none. The ground holds 52,000, making it the one of the biggest football stadium in England, and getting tickets for games, while sometimes difficult, is not always impossible.
