Gibside National Trust provides a rare example of an 18th-century landscape garden and was created with spectacular views in mind. The vision of coal magnate George Bowes and once a pleasure ground for the Georgian elite, this 243-hectare (600-acre) estate can now be enjoyed by everyone.

Gibside offers miles of woodland and riverside walks with views across the Derwent Valley. Explore an architectural gem of a Chapel and orangery which sit among pockets of peaceful woodland. Watch out for red kites as they soar above the famous tree-lined avenue at Gibside in Gateshead. Discover the ever-changing Walled Garden and the vibrant Stables, now a learning and discovery centre. The grand ruin of Gibside Hall offers a glimpse into the dramatic story of heiress Mary Eleanor Bowes.
