Fenwick is one of the UK’s premier department stores. A family business, it has grown to include 11 stores nationwide since its founding in 1882 in Newcastle. The flagship Newcastle store is now one of the largest in the UK, spread over five floors and boasting one of the biggest Beauty Halls in Britain, an enormous Food Hall, furniture and furnishings, books, homewares, a children’s paradise of toys, sportswear and equipment, menswear, childrenswear and an entire floor of fashion and accessories.
With an array of designer brands on offer across all departments, Fenwick are the exclusive stockists of Joseph and Gerard Darel in Newcastle, and MaxMara and Burberry Brit in the North East, making it a real destination for high-end shopping. Other top brands include Lipsy and Vero Moda, Paul Smith and Fred Perry for men, Betty Barclay, Mulberry, Juicy Couture, and the largest Hugo Boss concession outside London.
This is complemented by the luxurious Fenwick personal shopping suite which offers the ultimate experience in retail therapy. The service is complimentary and by appointment only; please call +44 (0)191 239 6693 for information and to book.
Fenwick’s ten fabulous eateries cater for every taste from fast and light at Yo!Sushi and Pret-a-Manger to American-style comfort food at the Northside Diner. North East food ambassador Terry Laybourne’s Café 21 completes the food offer, serving top-notch cuisine for discerning diners, located adjacent to Fenwick's high-end designer haven, the French Salon.
Fenwick’s busy events diary sees a variety of famous personalities grace its many departments. Past visitors have presented everything from cookery demonstrations to exclusive skincare ranges and include celebrity chefs Raymond Blanc and James Martin, floral designer Jane Packer, fashion designers Jeff Banks and Paul Costelloe, pop icon Lulu, interior designer Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen, the late former England Manager Sir Bobby Robson and even artist and entertainer Rolf Harris!
No event at Fenwick is more well-known, well-attended and well-loved than the famed Fenwick Christmas Windows; for many it simply wouldn’t be Christmas without them! First presented in 1971, the annual animations have become an integral part of the festive season in Newcastle. Make sure to stop and admire them from Northumberland Street throughout the festive season.
