STAMP OF APPROVAL FOR TALL SHIPS

Visitors to Tall Ships' Races 2005 next week will be able to get the 'stamp' of approval - and win a top-of-the-range digital camera - by making the most of their visit.

This is the first time the Tall Ships' Races have berthed on the Gateshead bank of the River Tyne and since they last visited in 1993 Gateshead Quays has undergone a huge transformation.

For people making the most of their trip to see the spectacular ships - and Gateshead Quays - there's a prize in store. Visitors can pick up a card from the NGI, Gateshead and Newcastle Tourist Information and Gateshead Summer Flower Show stand (number 29 at the Quays Gifts and Crafts Marquee on Gateshead Quays), then have them stamped at BALTIC, The Sage Gateshead, Gateshead Visitors Centre (all located on the Quays) and the Gateshead Flower Show at Lobley Hill Nursery from Friday 29 - Sunday 31 July. Those collecting all four stamps by 12th August can then enter their card into a prize draw for a Canon Digital Camera. There are also official Tall Ship enamel pin-badges for 100 runner ups.

Contemporary Art Gallery BALTIC is one of the most ambitious centres for international contemporary art in the UK. Entry is free.

The Sage Gateshead is one Gateshead Council's newest projects - the stunning Norman Foster building provides world-class performance facilities. Book in to see a performance, or take a break, enjoy a coffee and take in the fantastic views in the concourse.

Gateshead Visitors Centre is housed beside The Sage Gateshead offering information on Gateshead as well as Flotila! - an art collection of small vessels commissioned specially for The Tall Ships' Races 2005.

And for those visitors wishing to extend their stay, Gateshead's famous flower show runs at Lobley Hill nursery from Friday 29 July - Sunday 31.

Featuring fantastic local and national flower displays, demonstrations, a huge craft fair, speciality foods, live entertainment and lots of fun for children, the show is great day out for all the family.
