Feelgood Designs on the move...
Following on from its success at The BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art during the Juice Festival, Feelgood Designs - which has brought us Play+, the popular range of children's furniture - has now been moved to Seven Stories where you can continue to use this dedicated play and ‘chill out' space to relax and enjoy with a good book or two!
Still to come is the world premiere of Skellig, an enchanting contemporary opera of David Almond's award-winning novel, by composer Tod Machover. Skellig is both magical and thrilling, dark and sinister as it leads audiences of all ages into the coarse world of an ambiguous angel and transcends all preconceptions of traditional opera. It's the story of Michael, who, when exploring an old garage, finds a half-dead, spiteful old tramp. Skellig is a filthy, smelly, ungrateful old man, who feeds off bluebottles, Chinese takeaway, Newcastle Brown Ale and the dead mice that the owls bring him. However, Michael and his new friend Mina look after him, wondering about the bumps where his shoulder blades are and why he has such an affinity with owls...
First Draft brings you six new plays written by children aged nine and ten from Bridgewater School in Newcastle. The plays have been developed through a series of workshops and the result is an imaginative and innovative production showcasing the region's next generation of writing talent.
