For those who like their coffee with character, Blake’s Coffee House in Newcastle City Centre is an old favourite with a venue that regularly hosts live music. Nearby, Ouseburn Coffee Company offer their own freshly roasted beans as well as hand-made artisan snacks.
It’s not just coffee that gets this region buzzing; many of Newcastle’s best tea and coffee shops are a dab hand when it comes to brunch too. Olive and Bean is a bright and family friendly café with some of the best cakes, sandwiches and Afternoon Tea in the city whilst Café Royal is famed for its stylish bistro menu.
Those heading out from the city can also find freshly roasted coffee at Deli Espresso in Gosforth, which serves up fresh, organic health salads and sandwiches alongside its frothy coffees and tray bakes, whilst Arlo and Cake Stories in Jesmond are perfect for grabbing a spot of lunch or indulgent cake with a tall macchiato or syrupy latte. The Staiths Café in Gateshead is also gathering momentum as one of the Best Breakfast spots in the region, proving that the north east has good coffee running through its veins on both sides of the river.
