Ever fancied a cup of tea with a tabby, or a coffee with a kitty? In Newcastle, you're spoiled for choice - the city has not one, but two fantastic cat cafes to choose from where cat lovers can get their furry fix any day of the week. Talk about an ap-purr-tite!
Newcastle's first cat cafe, Mog on the Tyne, is in the heart of the City Centre on a peaceful street just off the Bigg Market. All of the resident cats have been re-homed from local animal shelter Westgate Ark, which is supported by your entry fee; each of these kitties live happy lives in the cafe where they thrive off the company of visitors, yet have plenty of private space to escape to when they need to sleep or have some time out. The star of the show at Mog on the Tyne is Stan, a friendly (and always hungry) black and white boy who is known for his constantly protruding tongue, a result of a previous road accident; now safe in his new home at the cafe, he adores humans so don't forget to give him a stroke.
Mog on the Tyne serves up a tempting menu too, consisting of 'pawninis', pasties, cakes from Pet Lamb Patisserie and plenty of drinks - including their famous 'catacino'! Advance booking is essential as space in the cafe is limited, so all visitors can spend as much time with the cats as possible.
Down on Newcastle Quayside, you'll find the city's second cat cafe: Catpawcino, where many of the resident kitties are rare and pedigree breeds - from Alfie the Ragdoll to Gatsby the Bengal and Ebby the Scottish Fold, Catpawcino is an exotic cat lover's paradise, and you can relax in their calming, bright and airy cat room whilst enjoying tea and cake, and playing with your favourite feline.
Catpawcino are also welcoming cats into their cafe who need a 'fur-ever' home, so when you visit, be sure to ask about their foster cats. You never know, the cat you fall in love with at Catpawcino could soon become your new best friend!

CatPawCino is a 'cat cafe' with a difference. Relax in their garden themed cat lounge and enjoy a cuppa and a sandwich whilst making friends with seven friendly kitties.
