As far as cafes go we have everything from classy pavement affairs where you can watch the world go by over an authentic Italian espresso to quaint little tearooms serving cucumber sandwiches - crustless of course. If you fancy a snack, a ‘cuppa’, a smoothie or a scone, not to mention excellent breakfasts for the day after the night before, there’s a huge selection of charming places to choose from.
Highlights include Blakes Coffee House for fairtrade coffee with great character, or for a cool, cosmopolitan experience with an all-day bistro menu visit Cafe Royal. Tyneside Cinema's traditional Coffee Rooms, which you'll find on the cinema's second floor, are also a perfect place to enjoy breakfast, lunch, or simply a pot of tea, whilst Intermezzo on the ground floor has more of an edgy feel, and also does great cocktails!
Finally, if you're looking for some refreshment on the Quayside look no further than BALTIC's cafe bar - a great place to enjoy lunch, coffee or something a little stronger.
