If a tall, cold beer with a side of peace and quiet is what you fancy, there is no better place in Newcastle to head to than Gosforth which is home to some of the city’s very best pubs. The bars and pubs in Gosforth sit just shy of Newcastle’s busy City Centre and neighbouring Jesmond, and have a very laid-back atmosphere that families, couples and pet owners will love - yes, Gosforth is best known for its several Dog Friendly Pubs!
High on the list of must-visit Gosforth bars and pubs is The Brandling Villa which not only welcomes you to bring your pooch pals, but actually has a dedicated section on their menu just for them. Named after their resident dogs Frank and Bird, their now legendary food and drinks menu is best sampled on Tuesday’s Burger Nights or Wednesday’s Pie Nights, and includes doggy dinners for your pooch to enjoy as you knock back a pint or two to the backdrop of live local music and a warm, friendly atmosphere.
Further into the centre of Gosforth you’ll find the very well-known Queen Victoria, one of Gosforth’s oldest pubs, and The Gosforth Hotel with its cosy nook which screens sports whilst offering the classic stylings of a traditional English pub. Nearby there’s also The Job Bullman and Three Mile Inn which are both spacious, family-friendly venues with a hearty menu of delicious pub grub; ideal for a Bank Holiday day out or a rainy afternoon indoors.
In warmer weather there’s also The Brandling Arms on Gosforth High Street which has its very own outdoor patio where you can sip fizz and cocktails in the sunshine, or move inside to sample their selection of ales, ciders and lagers amid stylish, rustic décor. Why not also grab a bite to eat with your glass of wine at any of the delightful restaurants in Gosforth such as Adriano’s or Loch Fyne, for a memorable chilled out evening in one of the north east’s favourite locations.
