Newcastle ScienceFest explodes back onto the North East’s cultural calendar this March with a 10-day bumper programme of events to celebrate creativity and innovation.
Two big weekends of non-stop activities will entertain the whole family with mind-boggling experiments, hands-on workshops and multi-sensory shows. Catering for curious minds of all ages, the festival will include lectures, culinary treats from the “science chef”, rocket science stand up and the UK’s first Maker Faire which will see renowned DIY and tech enthusiasts showcasing their weird and wonderful inventions from robots to craft work.

Come and make some noise and have fun learning about how sound works. Use your voice, your hands and your body to play on the Noisy Toys - make them screech and bleep while watching the sound waves on a screen. Warning: this event is NOISY!

Food for Thought

A tasteful family weekend full of food and science, including a “Science Chef” who will create a culinary treat with ingredients chosen by the audience, ice cream made with liquid nitrogen and even a live show that ends with a custard explosion! There will also be brain-modelling workshops and Life’s renowned science explainers performing Flame On!, the newest science show at the Centre for Life. As part of the festival, everyone gets into Life for £3.95 from 6-15 March 2009.
