Hotel Monument by artist Tatzu Oozu proposed to be in place around Grey’s Monument in Newcastle this summer is to be delayed.

Culture10, the festivals and events programme for the North East based at NewcastleGateshead Initiative, is proud of its record of creating and supporting ground-breaking events which puts an international spotlight on NewcastleGateshead and the wider region. It is delighted with the way people have embraced the concept of Hotel Monument in the historic heart of Newcastle. Working on projects of the scale and vision of Hotel Monument does present a unique set of challenges. The partners have achieved a huge amount in developing an innovative design and gaining planning permission. With the tight timescales afforded by the weather for this scheme, the three principal partners have agreed, however, that there is insufficient time to resolve the last remaining issues to deliver Hotel Monument this summer.
