Visitors will be dazzled by the colours and designs of the mosaics on the ground and first floor; they can slip back into the reassuring restoration of the Classic Cinema and enjoy the sumptuous leather seats and sofas in the Classic Circle.
As they move up the building they will be wowed by the light flooding through the new polycarbonate roof and the two new screens: the 156 seater Electra and the new Roxy which can seat 100 people.
And visitors can always stop and linger for a drink or something to eat as they marvel at the transformation that has taken place. The much-loved Coffee Rooms have returned, together with the Intermezzo Café Bar on the ground floor. There is now an third alternative place to enjoy a drink or discuss the merits of the latest film in the dazzling third floor Tyneside Bar.
The result of this restoration project means that cinema goers will be able to watch the best films from around the world in the most distinctive surroundings. Each screen will be able to show not only 35 mm films but is also equipped to take the latest digital technology to secure its future at the heart of Tyneside for the next 75 years.
