Dating back to 1239, with its horseshoe of buildings sheltering a medieval al fresco courtyard, Blackfriars Restaurant and Meeting Rooms is the oldest purpose-built restaurant in the UK.
Voted ‘Best NE Restaurant’ by readers of the Observer magazine and with an AA Rosette, Blackfriars offers a modern-British menu and has room for 70 seated diners and 100 standing. For conferencing, there is the medieval Guest Hall, the Old Dormitory Meeting Rooms, both with room for a further 100 guests, as well as the main restaurant. Outside you can enjoy al fresco dining or a drink in its sheltered medieval terrace. Blackfriars also scooped the award for ‘Best in Newcastle’ at the 23rd Annual Hi-Life Dining Awards 2008. Special lunch and early bird evening menus.
