This year, EAT! comes in three servings: Tea & Cake Planet (June 2014), EAT OUT! (August 2014) and EAT IN! (February 2015). Click the drop-down links below to find out about each event.
EAT! celebrated the 250th anniversary of Earl Grey – the famous Northumbrian who sits atop Grey’s Monument – with the most magnificent summer tea party EVER!
The North East’s finest tea upstarts from Ringtons to The *TeaShed joined forces with the region’s best bakers to bring pop-up tearooms, workshops, artisan stalls, live music and dance, bars and street food to The Boiler Shop.
The centrepiece of the event was the incredible Cake Planet. Amateur and professional bakers made their favourite landmarks from across the world out of cake and placed them on a map to be admired – before they were devoured!
We’re going al-fresco for our summer edition with a series of events embracing great food in the great outdoors.
We’ll see the return of 2013’s extremely popular Naked Feasts in some unbelievable new locations, as well as Foraging in countryside and coast and a whole week of Kids Cook School @ Fenwick.
From 15-17 August we’ll be celebrating our local ‘food heroes’, from chefs to producers and everyone in between, with a weekend of free events in Newcastle city centre including market stalls, street food, a Monumental disco soup and a Guinness World Record attempt for the longest chef demonstration.
Save room for our winter edition when we’ll be heading indoors for secret events, warming comfort food and more frivolity to cure the winter blues.
Details will be announced later in 2014. Watch this space….
