Northern Chords Festival is one of the most exciting North East musical events of the year.
At Northern Chords we believe that classical music can be enjoyed by anyone. By introducing internationally renowned young artists in venues ranging from intimate churches to a major European concert hall, Northern Chords hopes to break down any perceived barriers to classical music. Audiences of all ages are overwhelmed year on year by the energy and passion of the performances and always return to be taken on another thrilling journey.
This year we celebrate a milestone, our fifth birthday, and we intend to party in style. With timeless masterpieces and world premieres, from a concert involving 300 children celebrating Britten's 100th Anniversary to lunchtime concerts of sublime chamber music, we have something for everyone.
At this year's festival, more than 100 musicians will perform 30 awe-insipring works in 8 spectacular concerts at some of the region's most impressive venues: Sage Gateshead, Saint Nicholas Cathedral (Newcastle), St. Mary's Church (Whickham) and St. Andrew's Church (Corbridge).
