Metro

The Tyne and Wear Metro connects all the major destinations in the region. Services link central NewcastleGateshead with the airport in 22 minutes, and the coast in 30 minutes.

The Metro is the ideal way to get to the main shopping areas around Haymarket and Monument, and the hotels, cafés and restaurants of Jesmond. Metro trains run daily from 5.30am to midnight, every 5-10 minutes during the day and every 10-20 minutes in the evenings.

A variety of ticket options can be bought from machines at all Metro stations, however all-day travel on the Metro system is included with a Conference Travel Card.

QuayLink electric buses

QuayLink electric buses offer a low-emission, high-frequency, accessible and easy-to-use service, and are the best way to get around central NewcastleGateshead. Routes connect the attractions and sights of Newcastle Quayside and Gateshead Quays with Newcastle Central Station, Haymarket Bus Station and Gateshead Interchange.

All-day travel on the QuayLink electric buses is included with a Conference Travel Card; however individual tickets can be bought from the driver. Ticket options include a single fare and an all-day ticket. Day Rover tickets, Transfare tickets, Network One Travel Tickets including zone one and MetroSaver season tickets including zone A are also valid on QuayLink.

Walking NewcastleGateshead

Central NewcastleGateshead is compact and easy to explore on foot, allowing delegates to soak up the vibrant atmosphere and enjoy its beautiful landmarks. Newcastle Central Station is just 10 minutes’ walk away from the famous Quayside area and just five minutes’ walk from the main shopping district.
