Civic hospitality

NewcastleGateshead offers a wide range of civic hospitality to high-profile conferences visiting the city. This can include a letter from the mayor, a civic speaker, or hosting a civic reception.

Staff in the Mayor's Offices at both Newcastle City Council and Gateshead Council organise internal and external civic engagements for the mayors and the sheriff and deputy mayors.

Acting principal secretary, Ian Humphries, is responsible for advice, information and procedures relating to the Lord Mayor of Newcastle, and is the first point of contact on all matters relating to the Lord Mayor including receiving invitations and attending events. Jo Stewart, Civic Officer and Mayor's Attendant, is responsible for matters relating to the Mayor of Gateshead.
