Meet the team

Adrian EvansName: Adrian Evans
Job title: Senior Business Tourism Manager
Email address: adrian.evans@ngi.org.uk
Contact me if you’d like to discuss: Membership of the Convention Bureau, major event enquiries or your thoughts and suggestions on how we can help make your event in NewcastleGateshead a more memorable experience.
My top tip: In the busy world of event management it’s so important never to lose track of what the delegate experience will be. With more pressure than ever being put on budgets and personnel it would be easy to forget the effect the tiniest detail can have on the attendee. It’s never too early to put yourself in the shoes of your most important client - the person who will choose attend and support your event.
My favourite place in NewcastleGateshead: The Quayside – As the name suggests, this is the area along the banks of the river Tyne. To the north sits Newcastle and on the south bank Gateshead. Whatever the time of year or indeed the time of day, this iconic view never fails to inspire and interest.
An interesting fact about me: I once made a cup of tea for Princess Anne and was surprised that she carried her own sweeteners in the royal handbag!

Gill PilkingtonName: Gill Pilkington
Job title: Conference Development Manager
Email address: gill.pilkington@ngi.org.uk
Contact me if you’d like to discuss: Becoming a Conference Ambassador and working with us to bid for and attract more conferences to NewcastleGateshead
My top tip: If you are considering organising a conference here, get in touch with us as soon as possible – we can save you huge amounts of time and effort and help ensure a successful outcome. And remember, all our services are free!
My favourite place in NewcastleGateshead: It has to be the Angel of the North, unveiled in 1998, the year I moved to NewcastleGateshead, having lived in London for a very long time. A spectacular piece of public art, now recognised around the world and, for me, a good omen. He has watched over me ever since.
An interesting fact about me: I make a good crème brulee and am one of the few people in this region who has not taken part in The Great North Run (and never will!)

Alex MackeeName: Alex Mackee
Job title: Operations Manager
Email address: alex.mackee@ngi.org.uk
Contact me if you’d like to discuss: Anything to do with delegate accommodation
My top tip: A welcome reception at the beginning of your conference is a great ice breaker and a chance for delegates to get to know each other and the destination before the conference starts. How about a drinks reception onboard a River Escapes boat with the panorama of the stunning Quayside, or in BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art, with Gateshead Millennium Bridge tilted especially for the occasion?
My favourite place in NewcastleGateshead: The award-winning Saltwell Park in Gateshead is my favourite place and a great place for a walk, a coffee or just to sit and watch the world go by.
An interesting fact about me: I have sailed across the Atlantic twice.

Anna MoroneyName: Anna Moroney
Job title: Operations Manager
Email address: anna.moroney@ngi.org.uk
Contact me if you’d like to discuss: Delegate accommodation
My top tip: If you’re organising a conference involving overnight stays in North East England, don’t forget to order our free Delegate Welcome Packs, which are full of useful visitor information and special discounts and offers to help your delegates make the most of their visit.
My favourite place in NewcastleGateshead: Jesmond Dene is a great place for family days out and walks and is also home to Jesmond Dene House – which is where I got married. A £6m regeneration project is almost complete there now, making it even more of a favourite in my house. My little man (who is now one year old) loves animal corner and the lovely café.
An interesting fact about me: I have been hot air ballooning over the Masai Mara in Kenya.
