The Newcastle side of the Quayside contains a wealth of public artworks.
Some of the highlights of what can be found on Newcastle Quayside include: RELIEF SCULPTURE: Neil Talbot's 100' of carvings on to a sandstone wall, depict well known sights on the river from the river mouth to approximately 30 miles upriver. The 17 images are of existing features - historic monuments, industrial features etc that relate to the river. RIVER GOD SCULPTURE: Andre Wallace's 35' high steel column is topped with a bronze statue of a mythical river god. THE BLACKSMITHS' NEEDLE: a 7.6 metre conical steel sculpture again with a maritime theme, represented by mermaids, bells, shells and sea creatures from Alan Dawson.
