Gibside 18th Century Landscape Garden
The Column of Liberty is the first sight of this impressive landscape garden created by the Bowes family in the 18th century.
Spanning 160 hectares, Gibside is a 'grand design' of spectacular vistas, winding paths and grassy open spaces. At key points stand decorative garden buildings, such as the Palladian Chapel and Georgian stables.
Much of Gibside is a Site of Special Scientific Interest. See website for events and facilities.
