Celebrating its 10th birthday in 2008, the Angel is one of the most visible symbols of North East pride and named one of the ‘Seven Wonders of Britain’ by the Sunday Times.
Made from 200 tonnes of steel, it was created by Antony Gormley OBE.It stands 20m high and with a wingspan of 54m, it is wider than the Statue of Liberty is tall.
